  • Cinematography

    I am available as an on-location wildlife cinematographer! I’m incredibly passionate about dreaming up amazing sequences to document, and coming up with a plan to pull it off. I have experience working as a part of a team to shoot wildlife sequence, as well as working on solo filming assignments.

  • Footage licensing

    I have an extensive library of 4k and higher resolution wildlife and landscape footage available for licensing. While I have some content from around the world, most of my library is filmed in British Columbia and adjacent regions.

  • Location consulting

    Throughout the course of my visual storytelling and wildlife biology careers, I’ve spent considerable amount of time in every corner of my home province of British Columbia (the Great Bear Rainforest, Haida Gwaii, Vancouver Island, the south coast, the Okanagan Valley, central interior, Peace River region in the northeast, Kootenay Mountains in the southeast, the Rocky Mountains, the St. Elias Mountains of the northwest, and everything in between), as well as parts of Yukon and Alberta. My knowledge of the wildlife hotspots of this region is extensive. I’m available for work as a location consultant in this region, to advise on filming locations for productions of all scales, as well as brainstorm ideas for capturing unique and rare wildlife phenomena in this corner of the world.

  • Science and content accuracy consulting

    As an avid birder, naturalist, and all-around wildlife nerd with an academic background in biology, I’m available as a science consultant to ensure the accuracy of information presented. This can include everything from reviewing information conveyed In narration, to reviewing the sound mix to make sure the bird species calling in the background are typical to the on-screen location and habitat. I’ve provided these services in the past to feature-length documentary productions, as well as commercial advertising campaigns.

  • Environmental consulting

    While much of my work is in visual storytelling, my formal academic background is in biology, from the University of British Columbia. My combination of skills as a filmmaker and wildlife biologist makes me uniquely suited for for providing environmental impact assessments and wildlife presence surveys for film productions shooting on location with environmental concerns or assessment requirements. My past work in this field includes environmental consulting and wildlife monitoring for the Warner Bros. and Apple TV+ show, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”, during the production in the mountains of southwestern British Columbia.

Here is a selection of projects that I’ve worked on!

Every night, thousands of crows from around Greater Vancouver gather on one street to roost. Their commute across the city parallels the daily commute of people heading home from work. I spent many days this filming their journey with my friends & colleagues Jack Bailey and Shiun Okada for this short film with CBC

The Commute

This short film follows conservation biologist and British Columbia birding legend Melissa Hafting, and members of the BC Young Birders Program. As we follow a young birders field trip, we explore the positive role that birds have on mental health and community, how birds can aid in healing in the face of grief.

The Young Birders

One of the most incredible things I've ever had the chance to experience in nature is the courtship dance of the Sharp-tailed Grouse. At a site known as the lek, males gather to perform elaborate “dances” in an attempt to attract the attention of visiting females. This video captures the stunning visual displays and otherworldly sounds from the lek, through a sequence of shots recorded over two separate mornings. This short was awarded the video award in the 2023 Bird Photographer of the Year competition, and was highly honored in the video category of the 2023 Nature's Best Photography Awards.
